Our Plan

Step 1 Organization and Planning
Create a recognized organization of volunteers operating under a legal charter to manage the project, raise funds and manage operations. Design the garden to meet the vision and goals of the organization.

Step 2 Secure Trillium Grant and Other Resources
Negotiate a lease of the garden area with the Town. Write and submit a Trillium grant application to fund the restoration of the old foundation walls. Seek out other donations and donations-in-kind to support Phase 1.

Step 3 Construction of Phase 1
Hire a site manager/contractor to begin Phase 1 which includes: restoration and renovation of the old stone walls, rough grading of parking lot and installation of major pathways, bridge, information kiosk, water feature, planting beds, trees, shrubs and perennials, bringing in electrical and water services, seeding grass areas and installing the donor recognition plaque.

Step 4 Volunteer Support Expansion
Recruit and organize a volunteer support group to undertake ongoing maintenance of the garden in cooperation with the Town. Expand partnerships with other groups within the town. Seek funds and donations towards construction of Phase 2.

Step 5 Dry Riverbed Garden - Phase 2
Create a dry stone riverbed planted with informal rock gardens running from the sunken garden down to the storm water management ponds.

Step 6 Formal Gardens - Phase 3
Create the formal garden including a band shell as a focal point. Complete secondary paths. Install interpretive signage and/pamphlets.

Starting Wednesday, April 27th and every Wednesday until about September 21st from 9:30 to 11:30.
